John Deere Updated Sprayer Technology Delivers Advanced Precision, Mobility Improvements and Expanded Crop Coverage

Advanced See & Spray™ technology designed for today's challenges

Crestmead, Queensland (25 February, 2026) — John Deere has announced a series of updates to its Model Year 2027 (MY27) spray application portfolio, delivering advancements in manoeuvrability, visibility, and precision agriculture.

Most notably, John Deere introduced the next generation of its See & Spray™ technology, building on a proven foundation to expand targeted application across more crops and more operating conditions.

In addition, the sprayer updates also include Four-Wheel Steering on select models for improved handling and manoeuvrability plus enhanced precision ag tools and insights to streamline logistics and data analysis.

The updated See & Spray Gen 2 solution, available on MY27 400 and 600 Series sprayers, is designed to help manage rising input costs, tighter application windows, and increasing weed pressure with greater confidence and flexibility.

Simplified, but Precise, Weed Management Strategy

Model year 2027 brings one simplified and unified See & Spray Gen 2 platform that builds upon the success of Select, Premium, and Ultimate options. The integration eliminates confusion between the previous system levels, making it easier for farmers to implement See & Spray on their operation.

Farmers and contractors can now customise the machine without feature compromise or compatibility challenges. They can choose to add optional features to the single tank configuration of MY27 Sprayers, such as full boom lighting for night operations to maximise operating time, and ExactApply™ or Individual Nozzle Control (INC) Pro nozzle systems.

Precision Application for Complex Challenges

Precision and flexibility are critical for farmers as weed resistance continues to be a major challenge for crop production systems. John Deere's expanded See & Spray technology now enables targeted application on Australian and New Zealand farms in crop across an expanded range including wheat, barley and canola, as well as cotton, corn and soy beans.

Real-time weed detection and treatment delivers the flexibility for farmers to adapt weed control strategies to crop and field conditions, maintaining effective weed control while optimising input use, protecting profitability and supporting long-term agronomic outcomes.

Customers will also benefit from the new Variable Rate capability (previously only available on See & Spray Select), which provides farmers with prescription-like application without the need to build prescriptions.

Using real-time living biomass detection from See & Spray cameras, the system automatically adjusts application rates at the nozzle level during fungicide, harvest aid/desiccation, and plant growth regulator passes.

This expanded capability allows farmers to optimise job quality, increase productivity, and extend the value of See & Spray into efficient late-season applications, when timing and consistency matter most.

The next generation of See & Spray™ technology expands targeted application across more crops and under more operating conditions.

Additional See & Spray-Specific Enhancements for MY27:

New centre-frame camera placement on the front of the sprayer will reduce dust interference and enhance detection accuracy.
Higher operating speeds in targeted modes, depending on crop and ground conditions, of up to 26km/hr, will allow more hectares to be covered when application windows are tight.
Full boom lighting will be included in base See & Spray Gen 2 systems, enabling targeted fallow application at night to extend productive hours.

The expanded See & Spray capabilities will be available on MY27 John Deere 408R, 410R, 412R, 612R, and 616R sprayers.

Designed to Move Smarter in Fields

John Deere is also introducing several MY27 sprayer enhancements designed to improve overall productivity, operator awareness and in-field efficiency across a wider range of applications.

Model year 2027 application updates also improve manoeuvrability with the introduction of a Four-Wheel Steering option on the 400 Series chassis. The system includes a Crab Steer feature, giving operators greater control in tight, irregular, or high-value crop fields.

By allowing the rear wheels to precisely follow the path of the front wheels on headlands, Four-Wheel Steering reduces crop damage, compaction, and drip tape disturbance while improving overall field efficiency. The reduced turn radius enables confident operation in tight turn rows and challenging field shapes, helping to protect yield potential.

ExactInject™ Direct Chemical Injection system adds flexibility to manage complex chemistries while increasing productivity with less clean out and change over time between fields. This solution is available as a John Deere aftermarket option for MY27 machines.
Enhanced G5^Plus display experience simplifies setup, monitoring and in-field adjustments for operators.
John Deere Operations Center™ integration generates weed pressure maps, as-applied data, and savings insights accessible via web and mobile for See & Spray Gen 2 systems on MY27 400 and 600 Series sprayers.
Estimated time-to-empty and sprayer alerts help operators coordinate refills more efficiently, reducing downtime.
SmartView camera system improves visibility around the machine, reducing blind spots and increasing operator situational awareness.
AutoTrac™ Vision 2.0–ready capability for Hagie machines, available from the factory, enables enhanced guidance performance in challenging crop conditions.
