A finance option built for growth

Fertiliser-spreading contractor, David Elsworth, said securing finance through John Deere Financial has allowed him to double his operation.

Business owner, David Elsworth, said he was patient when looking for the perfect machine to complement his fleet before finding a 2009 John Deere 7530 which he secured with John Deere Financial.

Once he found the tractor, which he considers the most dependable machine for his operation, the hard work was completed by his local John Deere dealership, Cervus Equipment Rotorua, which walked him through the John Deere Financial process. The tractor was in his yard and ready to work within a few days.

"Reliability is key for me, and I think the 7530s are bullet proof. Through John Deere Financial it was as simple as speaking to the salesman at the dealership, signing the paperwork, then waiting for the call to be told I could pick up my tractor," David said.

"For secondhand machines, their rates are extremely competitive - I don't know why anyone would not choose to use John Deere Financial."

The 7530 is David's only workhorse that can complete all tasks required across the diverse demands of his business.

"I chose to wait until I found the one I wanted, as it needed to have front and back linkage so I can connect multiple spraying attachments. I have driven 7530s quite a lot over the years and never had any issues with them," he said.

In the past, Elsworth Fertiliser Spreading sub-contracted in another machine and operator for specific tractor jobs, but since acquiring the 7530 David has broadened internal capacity and expanded the business two-fold.

Experience lends itself to John Deere

David has decades of experience behind the wheel of heavy machinery, having worked on Reporoa farms from the age of 16.

After putting many miles in the field, five years ago he established Elsworth Fertiliser Spreading, and today his two-man team provides comprehensive fertiliser solutions including liquid spraying, and lime and chicken litter paddock distribution.

Reporoa, a rural community within the Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island, has a thriving agricultural sector which stems from its rich pumice soils; the land is regarded as some of the most productive in the nation.

David's business focuses on supporting dairy, beef and cropping enterprises, and his season finds full gears between March and Christmas, when equipment can run for up to 60 hours a week.

"For dairy especially, farmers are relying on us to fertilise so their grass can grow round after round. If we break down, we will lose money as it is all time critical," David said.

By using John Deere Financial David was able to streamline acquisition of the 7530 to respond quickly to the growing equipment demands of the business.

"My old man always talked very highly of the John Deere Financial service," David said.

"I found the process very straight forward. Obviously, I had my business's finances in order so, after the paperwork was complete, it was only a matter of a couple of days for the tractor to be in my yard. To be honest, it was a very simple process."
