Crestmead, Queensland (15 November 2021) — A STREAMLINED and more in-depth flow of information from machines to farmers and a new capability allowing seamless reporting of field work, will come online through the latest round of updates to the John Deere Operations Center.

John Deere Australia and New Zealand, Precision Agriculture Manager, Benji Blevin, said a series of new features, live from 11 November, will help farmers delve deeper into their data — to drive productivity.

"As part of the update, farmers can now access high-level productivity metrics on a map, including layers that illustrate equipment productivity, tonnes per hour of your combine, fuel usage and historical machine activity in the field," Mr Blevin said.

"The ability to view these metrics clearly on a map allows farmers and contractors to pick up trends and identify inefficiencies within their operation. For example, during harvest, users will be able to visualise the performance of multiple machines, highlighting potential opportunities for improvements to a particular machine or operator.

"This enables farmers and contractors to lift the productivity of their entire fleet – and finish harvest faster."

Mr Blevin said the latest updates also streamlined the process of farmers choosing to securely share their farm information with key stakeholders.

"From today, whole-farm reports can be generated and safely shared with a few simple clicks, meaning critical farm information can be distributed to advisors, contractors, or partners," he said.

"Whether for seeding, spraying, or harvest, farmers can quickly and easily demonstrate the full scope of work rolling out on-farm."

Mr Blevin described the upgrades as the next step in John Deere's overarching goal of helping farmers and contractors synchronise the management of their people, equipment and data.

"Seamless and more precise control of data and equipment leads to powerful efficiency gains, which empowers farmers to become more productive, sustainable and profitable."

Other updates include:

Analyse

  • Planting performance data from SeedStar™ 4 planters with a Gen4™ display is now visible in Operations Center
    • New data layers, including seed spacing, applied downforce, ride quality, and gauge wheel margin, along with new equipment performance layers, allow operators to capture a complete picture of planting
    • Understand how field conditions, such as seed bed preparation, may have affected planting performance positively or negatively
    • Understand if certain planting parameters, such as downforce, had an impact on yield outcomes and create a plan to improve the following season.

Setup (Land Tool)

  • A new way to manage fields, boundaries, guidance lines and flags
  • New user interface makes it easier to manage digital farm assets
  • Smart filters make it easier than ever for customers to easily identify and remove unwanted data, helping to improve data quality within an Operations Center organisation.

Plan (Work Planner Tool)

  • Create work plans from historical data and use the new map view for spatial representation
    • Filter for historical field data and use it to plan for the next operation. For example, when using crop rotations, transition a field seeded with canola in 2021, and easily plan for it to be seeded with wheat for 2022.
  • Filter fields by their current crop type, variety, or product applied to make it easier to group fields for batch planning of work tasks
  • Use the new interactive map to select fields either from a list, or visually for new work tasks
  • Preview guidance lines and prescriptions on the map to ensure that the correct assets are selected for work tasks before sending them wirelessly to equipment.
