Backup Support Keeps The Many Wheels Turning For Thriving Forestry Contractor

PUTTING it simply, if the wheels of Lee Logging's equipment are not turning, the business is not earning, which is why the North Canterbury forestry harvesting contractor relies on John Deere equipment.
Ryan Lee, who is third generation to the venture servicing the Rayonier Matariki Forests with harvesting capabilities, said a fast-paced supply of parts and backup support from his local John Deere dealership, Drummond & Etheridge, Rolleston, and technicians like Mark Haughton, was crucial to the family-run business.
He's in safe hands, with Mark named the New Zealand Construction and Forestry Service Technician of the Year at the inaugural John Deere Technician Awards in October 2021.
"The technicians who come to see us are extremely important as they keep our equipment operating at optimal performance" Mr Lee said.
"We have been working with Mark for about two years now, and he's extremely approachable, he always makes himself available if I ever have any questions and he's proven he's willing to visit us on site at any time and in any weather."
Lee Logging has been powered by a fleet of John Deere equipment for 15 years, with the equipment lineup including a 1910E Forwarder, as well as 909MH and 753JH Harvesters.
As the business is paid by production, machinery performance and reliability are crucial and when it comes to backup support, Mr Lee said he required timely technical expertise and swift access to necessary parts, which his local dealership was delivering.
"I believe machinery is only as good as the backup support it receives" Mr Lee said.
